Opportunity EY Private Tax is a growing practice within the organization, serving privately held companies. The team focuses on high‑growth private companies from family owned businesses to private equity owned companies. You will work on technically demanding tax planning and compliance projects.
Key Responsibilities
Preparing or reviewing federal and state tax returns for U.S. corporations and some partnerships, including foreign reporting requirements for cross‑border compliance.
Providing tax research, tax memoranda drafting, and assistance in quantitative modeling for private client tax advisory services.
Identifying and communicating significant tax matters to Senior Managers, Managing Directors and Partners.
Liaising and building relationships with other service lines and subject matter professionals.
Building effective long‑term client relationships and understanding their unique needs to provide tailored service.
Communicating complex tax issues to non‑tax professionals and clients.
Maintaining technical knowledge and sharing best practices.
Managing, coaching and developing a team of tax professionals, reviewing work and helping them excel.
Identifying and reacting to risks and opportunities to improve services and processes.
Skills And Attributes For Success
A bachelor's degree in a related field, supported by tax, business or financial planning experience.
A CPA certification or membership in The Bar.
Prior experience with ASC 740 tax provisions.
Excellent collaboration and negotiation skills, and the confidence to challenge colleagues and stakeholders from a diverse range of backgrounds.
Minimum of 5 years of work experience in professional services or a professional tax organization.
A commitment to continuing learning.
Proficiency with tax software such as RIA, CCH IntelliConnect, OneSource, BNA or Lexis Nexis.
Working in a balanced hybrid environment and willingness to travel as needed.
Experience in managing, coaching and mentoring junior colleagues.
What We Offer You
Competitive base salary range of $106,500 to $195,100 across U.S. locations, with higher ranges in the New York City, Washington State and California metros.
