Full Time Assistant Store Manager (Store 7578) – GameStop. Working with minimal supervision, the Assistant Store Manager supports the Store Manager in all facets of store operations. The role uses elements of GameStop's buy, sell, trade, and reservation business model and involves developing a sales culture, providing outstanding guest service, and supervising staff in the Store Manager’s absence. Responsibilities
Provide best-in-class guest service: greet guests promptly; respond to questions/concerns quickly and courteously; assist guests with gaming needs; inform guests of promotions; recommend additional items; apply selling behaviors during every transaction; and circulate throughout the store to prioritize guests. Support the total shopping environment, including visual and operational elements, current sales initiatives, and guest relationships that lead to sales and repeat business. Process guest purchases/returns accurately using the POS system, including giving correct change, providing receipts, and ensuring high-quality guest service. Respond to guest questions in person or by phone; escalate issues to the Store Manager as needed. Promote GameStop guest benefits (e.g., new title reservations, trade-in program, Pro Rewards loyalty). Assist the Store Manager with setting guest service expectations and training store associates in policies, procedures, and guidelines. Observe associate performance, provide feedback, and address unsatisfactory performance as directed to align with guest service expectations. Provide timely recognition and feedback to associates; input feedback into the HR system in partnership with the Store Manager. Ensure new onboarding and training are completed prior to opening or closing shifts; maintain knowledge of policies, inventory control, loss prevention, safety, financial protocol, and ethics. Schedule store associates to follow guidelines, manage breaks/meals, and maintain optimal staffing for guest service. Approve payroll and manage paid time off; ensure accurate timekeeping and pay. Maintain store cleanliness, organization, and merchandising per guidelines; ensure equipment is in working order. Fulfill Omni-Channel orders daily. Protect company assets via inventory control and loss prevention; inspect packages at closing as appropriate; report concerns to the Store Manager. Support the team in meeting sales, profit, and shrink goals and complete required administrative duties. Perform inventory counts, restock merchandise, and ensure products are represented and organized on the floor. Reconcile daily transaction totals; prepare closeout paperwork and ensure adequate cash supply. Verify shipments for discrepancies; conduct inventories and report issues to management. Process defectives/recalls and stock pulls promptly; label boxes with packing lists. Maintain associate and guest safety; address hazards promptly per guidelines and report injuries. Maintain store records/files; keep manuals up to date. Supervise and delegate tasks to Sales Associates and Retail Keyholders in the Store Manager’s absence. Adhere to GameStop policies and procedures, including the Associate Handbook and Code of Standards, Ethics & Conduct. Adhere to opening and closing procedures. Qualifications
Must provide proof of identity and eligibility to legally work in the United States. Must be at least 18 years old. High school diploma or equivalent required; associate’s or bachelor’s degree in business, marketing, merchandising, or related field preferred. At least 6 months of retail management experience preferred. At least 2 years of retail sales, guest service, and/or management experience preferred. Video game knowledge preferred. Clear verbal and written communication skills; English required; bilingual English/Spanish preferred. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple tasks. Complete required paperwork accurately; follow written, oral, or diagram instructions. Execute financial tasks in accordance with company policy. Flexible schedule including extended hours, weekends, and some holidays; minimum 3 days/week availability. Handle pressure, solve problems creatively, stay reliable and trustworthy. Ability to stand and move for up to 12 hours; lift up to 30 lbs and perform basic physical tasks.
