Responsibilities
Provide best-in-class guest service: promptly greet guests; respond to guest questions/concerns quickly, effectively, and courteously; assist guests with meeting their video gaming needs; inform guests of special promotions; recommend additional items as appropriate; apply all selling behaviors during every transaction and thank every guest for shopping at GameStop; prioritize guests over tasks and demonstrate that commitment by circulating throughout the store. Support the total shopping environment, including visual and operational elements, current sales initiatives, and the guest relationships that lead to sales and repeat business. Process guest purchases/return transactions using POS system accurately; handle changes, receipts, and ensure top-notch guest service. Respond to guest comments or questions in person or on the phone; escalate customer issues and complaints to the Store Manager when appropriate. Promote GameStop’s guest benefits (e.g., new title reservations, trade-in program, Pro Rewards). Assist the Store Manager with setting guest service expectations and training store associates in policies, procedures, practices, and guidelines. Observe associate performance; provide timely feedback; address unsatisfactory performance as directed; ensure alignment with guest service expectations. Provide recognition and feedback to store associates; log written feedback into the Workday/HR system in partnership with the Store Manager. Ensure associates complete onboarding, job training, and compliance training prior to opening or closing shifts; knowledge of policies, inventory controls, loss prevention, safety, financial protocol, and ethics. Schedule store associates to follow guidelines; supervise staffing to maintain optimal guest service; ensure best-in-class service is consistently provided. Approve payroll, enter paid time off, and verify time for all staff. Maintain store cleanliness, organization, and merchandising per guidelines; ensure fixtures and equipment are in proper working order. Fulfill Omni-Channel orders daily. Protect company assets through inventory control and loss prevention; inspect packages at closing as appropriate; communicate concerns to the Store Manager. Support the store team in meeting sales, profit, and shrink goals; complete administrative and operational duties. Perform store inventory counts and restock merchandise; ensure products are represented and organized on the sales floor. Count, balance, and reconcile daily transactions in the POS system; complete closeout paperwork and bank deposits per guidelines. Verify shipments for discrepancies and conduct inventories; communicate discrepancies to the Store Manager/District Manager. Process defectives/recalls and stock pulls; label boxes with packing lists. Maintain awareness of associate and guest safety; report injuries per guidelines. Assist in maintaining store records/files; keep manuals up to date. Supervise and delegate tasks to Sales Associates and Retail Keyholders in the absence of the Store Manager. Adhere to all policies and procedures, including the Associate Handbook and Code of Standards, Ethics & Conduct. Adhere to opening and closing procedures. Qualifications
Must provide proof of identity and eligibility to legally work in the United States. Must be at least 18 years old. High school diploma or equivalent required; associate’s or bachelor’s degree in business, marketing, merchandising, or related field preferred. At least 6 months of retail management experience preferred. At least 2 years of retail sales, guest service, and/or management experience preferred. Video game knowledge preferred. Outgoing and welcoming personality with strong people skills. Provide genuine, individualized assistance to every guest during every visit. Clear verbal and written communication and listening skills; English proficiency; bilingual English/Spanish preferred. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and meet objectives. Work independently and in a team to perform tasks timely. Meet performance expectations including attendance, appearance, safety, and respectful workplace. Operate POS system; basic math and alphabetizing skills. Complete required paperwork properly; follow written or diagrammed instructions. Flexible schedule including nights, weekends, and some holidays; minimum 3 days/week availability. Handle pressure, be creative and a problem solver; reliable and trustworthy; good judgment. Able to work alone; stand/move for up to 12 hours; lift up to 30 lbs; capable of basic physical tasks. Onboarding: working understanding of military ranks and insignia (for stores on military bases).
