Overview
Full Time Assistant Store Manager (Store 3554) at GameStop. Working with minimal supervision, the Assistant Store Manager supports the Store Manager in all facets of store operations, using elements of GameStop's buy, sell, trade, and reservation business model to promote a sales culture and provide outstanding guest service experiences. Responsibilities
Provide best-in-class guest service: greet guests, respond to questions/concerns promptly and courteously, assist with gaming needs, inform guests of promotions, and promote selling behaviors during every transaction. Support the shopping environment, visual and operational elements, current sales initiatives, and guest relationships that lead to sales and repeat business. Process guest purchases/returns accurately using the POS system; ensure proper changes, receipts, and high-quality guest service. Respond to guest questions in person or by phone; escalate issues to the Store Manager when appropriate. Promote GameStop benefits (e.g., title reservations, trade-in, Pro Rewards). Assist the Store Manager with setting guest service expectations and training store associates on policies, procedures, and guidelines. Monitor associate performance, provide feedback, and address unsatisfactory performance as directed. Provide recognition and feedback to associates and document performance in the HR system in partnership with the Store Manager. Ensure onboarding, job training, and compliance training are completed before shifts; knowledge of policies, inventory control, loss prevention, safety, and ethics. Schedule staff to meet guidelines, supervise staffing for optimal guest service, and ensure adherence to breaks and meals. Approve payroll, manage time off and edits, and verify accurate compensation for time worked. Maintain store cleanliness, organization, and merchandising per guidelines; ensure fixtures and equipment are in proper working order. Fulfill Omni-Channel orders daily. Protect assets through inventory control and loss prevention; communicate concerns to the Store Manager. Support sales, profits, and shrinkage goals and complete required administrative tasks. Conduct inventory counts, restock merchandise, and ensure products are represented and organized on the sales floor. Reconcile daily transactions in the POS system and manage cash/deposits per guidelines. Verify shipments for discrepancies; conduct merchandise counts and communicate discrepancies to leadership. Process defectives/recalls and stock pulls; label boxes with packing lists. Maintain safety awareness and report injuries per guidelines. Maintain store records/files and assist with up-to-date manuals. Supervise and delegate tasks to Staff in the absence of the Store Manager. Adhere to GameStop policies and the Associate Handbook; follow opening and closing procedures. Qualifications
Must provide proof of identity and eligibility to work in the United States. Must be at least 18 years old. High school diploma or equivalent required; associate’s or bachelor’s degree in business, marketing, merchandising, or related field preferred. At least 6 months of retail management experience preferred. At least 2 years of retail sales, guest service, and/or management experience preferred. Video game knowledge preferred. Outgoing, welcoming personality with strong people skills. Ability to provide genuine, individualized guest assistance. Clear verbal and written communication skills; English proficiency; bilingual English/Spanish preferred. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and both independently and in a team. Strong attendance, appearance, safety, and respectful workplace standards. Operate POS system and basic math; accurate paperwork and instructions follow-through. Flexible schedule including nights, weekends, and some holidays (minimum 3 days/week). Resilience under pressure and problem-solving abilities; reliability and good judgment. Ability to work alone and stand/move for extended periods (up to 12 hours); ability to lift up to 30 lbs and perform physical tasks as required. Compensation
