Overview As a Pharmacy Manager, you will lead and develop a pharmacy team that provides exceptional patient care by promoting best practices and leading through change while identifying and addressing performance opportunities. You will support program initiatives, onboard newly hired pharmacy team members, and recognize colleagues for their success. You will model best practices in pharmacy operations, provide patient counseling, and ensure compliance with legal and regulatory guidelines.
Responsibilities
Lead and develop a pharmacy team to deliver safe and effective dispensing, counseling, and immunization practices.
Oversee the pharmacy team during bench shifts, coach performance, and follow up on team members’ progress.
Promote safe and accurate prescription fulfillment by following workflow procedures and safety guardrails at every workstation.
Provide compassionate patient care, collaborate with the patient’s healthcare team, and proactively resolve insurance or medication issues.
Offer and deliver immunizations; identify and mentor Pharmacy Technicians to learn immunization.
Manage pharmacy inventory with emphasis on protecting cold chain products; follow inventory best practices.
Conduct onboarding for new Technicians and Pharmacists, including CVS workflow training and tracking progress toward required training and licensure.
Ensure operations comply with state Board of Pharmacy regulations; escalate issues to appropriate leadership as needed.
Partner with Store Manager to maintain a healthy talent pipeline and ensure cross-trained colleagues are on track for licensure.
Supervise Staff Pharmacists and District Support Pharmacists where applicable; conduct performance reviews and address gaps.
Maintain a safe, inclusive, and engaging team dynamic; contribute to scheduling and workload planning.
Review business reporting to identify opportunities for workflow, service, patient care, and compliance improvements; develop action plans.
Foster a culture of safety, empowerment, and inclusion; encourage feedback and act on it.
Maintain clinical and technical skills; pursue trainings and continuing education as required.
Support access to care and improve patient outcomes through pharmacist-led clinical care as allowed (e.g., testing and prescribing services where permissible).
Understand and comply with all applicable laws, regulations, standards, and CVS Health policies; maintain patient privacy and secure records.
Other tasks as directed by Supervisor or Manager.
Required Qualifications
Active Pharmacist License in the state where the store is located
Active National Provider Identifier (NPI)
Not on the DEA Excluded Parties list
1-2 years of experience as a Pharmacist
Essential Functions
Regular and predictable attendance, including nights and weekends
Ability to complete required training within designated timeframe
Attention and Focus: concentrate on tasks; manage multiple priorities; ensure prescription accuracy
Customer Service and Team Orientation: help people and respond to patient needs
Communication Skills: interact effectively with patients and colleagues
Mathematical Reasoning: calculate supplies, days’ supply, and related quantities
Problem Resolution: address challenging interactions and choose appropriate actions
Physical Demands: mobility, lifting, reaching, repetitive motion, fine motor tasks, and visual acuity
Team Management and Leadership: lead by example, delegate, coach, inspire, and address performance
Other tasks as directed by supervisor or manager
Preferred Qualifications
Completion of the CVS Pharmacy Manager Emerging Leader (PM-EL) program
3-5 years of related work experience in a pharmacy, retail, medical, or customer service setting
Ability to work in the home store and across the market to meet business needs
Anticipated Weekly Hours 40
Time Type Full time
Pay Range $65.00 - $82.00
This pay range represents the base hourly rate or base annual full-time salary for all positions in the job grade within which this position falls. The actual base salary offer will depend on a variety of factors including experience, education, geography and other relevant factors. This position is eligible for a CVS Health bonus, commission or short-term incentive program in addition to the base pay range listed above.
