Overview The Pharmacy Manager is responsible for direct and effective management of the pharmacy team, ensuring safe and accurate dispensing, patient counseling, and adherence to all legal and regulatory guidelines. They support program awareness, onboarding of new team members, and recognition of colleagues for success. The role involves leading the bench, coaching for performance, and maintaining a culture of safety and inclusion.
Responsibilities
Live the company purpose by helping to manage and improve patient health through safe and appropriate dispensing, counseling, and immunizing practices
Oversee the pharmacy team during bench shifts; coach and follow up to strengthen performance measures
Ensure safe and accurate prescription fulfillment by following (and directing others to follow) workflow procedures and safety guardrails
Contribute to positive patient experiences through empathy, collaboration with the patient’s healthcare team, and proactive resolution of insurance or medication issues
Offer and deliver immunizations where permissible; identify and support technicians to learn immunization skills
Manage pharmacy inventory with a focus on protecting cold chain products
Conduct onboarding for Technicians and Pharmacists in stores and districts; ensure timely completion of required training and licensure
Ensure operations comply with state Board of Pharmacy regulations; escalate issues as needed
Partner with the Store Manager to maintain a healthy talent pipeline and ensure cross-training for licensure
Oversee Pharmacists and District Support Pharmacists; deliver performance reviews and address gaps
Maintain a safe, inclusive, and engaging team dynamic; manage the pharmacy schedule
Review business reporting to identify operational insights and develop action plans to close gaps
Establish a culture of safety, empowerment, and inclusion; encourage feedback and take appropriate action
Maintain clinical and technical skills; pursue trainings and continuing medical education as required
Support access to care and patient outcomes through pharmacist-delivered clinical services where permissible
Understand and comply with federal and state laws, professional standards, and CVS Health policies; protect patient privacy and ensure a safe workplace
Required Qualifications
Active Pharmacist License in the state where the store is located
Active National Provider Identifier (NPI)
Not on the DEA Excluded Parties list
1-2 years of experience as a Pharmacist
Essential Functions
Regular and predictable attendance, including nights and weekends
Ability to complete required training within the designated timeframe
Attention and focus: concentrate on tasks and switch between tasks as needed to meet patient and business needs
Customer service and teamwork: assist others, demonstrate empathy, and collaborate with patients and colleagues
Communication skills: verbal and written communication; active listening
Mathematical reasoning: compute dosage, days supply, and related calculations
Problem resolution: address challenging interactions and determine best course of action
Physical demands: mobility, lifting, reaching, manual dexterity, visual acuity
Preferred Qualifications
Completion of the CVS Pharmacy Manager Emerging Leader (PM-EL) program
3-5 years of related work experience in pharmacy, retail, medical, or customer service
Ability to work in the home store and across markets to meet business needs
Anticipated Weekly Hours 40
Time Type Full time
Pay Range The Typical Pay Range For This Role Is $65.00 - $82.00 per hour
This base range may vary based on experience, education, geography, and other factors. Eligible for CVS Health bonus or incentive programs in addition to base pay.
