Job Purpose & Summary We help people navigate the health care system by improving access, lowering costs, and being a trusted partner. In our Retail locations, District Support Pharmacists (DSPs) cultivate a culture of excellence, acting as role models and setting the bar for pharmacy teams.

As a DSP, you fill pharmacist scheduling gaps and support pharmacy management under the direction of the Pharmacy Manager and Rx District Leader. Throughout the district you oversee pharmacy operations, serve as the Pharmacy Manager’s proxy during bench shifts, and work to improve patient health through safe dispensing, counseling, and immunizing practices.

Responsibilities

Living our purpose by helping to manage and improve patient health through safe and appropriate dispensing, counseling, and immunizing practices.

Traveling the district to fill pharmacist shifts as scheduled by the District Performance Coordinator and overseeing the pharmacy as the Pharmacy Manager’s proxy during bench shifts.

Supporting safe and accurate prescription fulfillment by following pharmacy workflow procedures and directing the pharmacy team to use safety guardrails at every workstation.

Assuming Pharmacy Manager’s day‑to‑day duties when serving as the only or the primary pharmacist‑on‑duty.

Contributing to positive patient experiences by showing empathy, coaching the pharmacy team, and proactively resolving insurance or medication issues.

Proactively offering and delivering immunizations and engaging Pharmacy Technicians to learn to immunize.

Managing pharmacy inventory, especially cold‑chain products, by following best practices and guiding the team.

Remaining flexible for scheduling and business needs while fostering a safe, inclusive, and engaging team dynamic.

Maintaining relevant clinical and technical skills through required trainings, CMEs, and continual knowledge expansion.

Supporting access to care and improving patient outcomes through pharmacist‑delivered clinical care such as testing and prescribing services.

Understanding and complying with all relevant federal and state laws, regulations, professional standards, and ethical principles; complying with CVS Health policies and controlled‑substance dispensing requirements.

Required Qualifications

Active Pharmacist License in the state where the store is located.

Active National Provider Identifier (NPI).

Not on the DEA Excluded Parties list.

Essential Functions

Ability to travel within a reasonable radius to support market staffing as business needs require.

Regular attendance, including nights and weekends.

Ability to complete required training within designated timeframes.

Attention and Focus:

Ability to concentrate on tasks over time.

Ability to pivot quickly between tasks.

Ability to confirm prescription information and label accuracy.

Customer Service and Team Orientation:

Actively look for ways to help people courteously.

Notice and respond appropriately to patient reactions.

Communication Skills:

Use verbal and written communication with patients and colleagues.

Active listening and appropriate questioning without interrupting.

Mathematical Reasoning:

Use math to solve dispensing problems, determine doses, and inventory calculations.

Problem Resolution:

Identify challenging interactions and choose best outcomes.

Physical Demands:

Mobile and upright for extended periods.

Lifting, scanning, and bagging items up to 20 lbs.

Reaching, bending, and using fine motor skills.

Visual acuity for small details and machine operation.

Any additional tasks as directed by Supervisor or Manager.

Preferred Qualifications

1–2 years of related pharmacy, retail, medical, or customer service experience.

Time Type Part time

Pay Range The typical pay range for this role is $60.00 – $74.00 per hour. The final offer will depend on experience, education, geography, and other factors.
