Position Summary: The Purchasing Coordinator is responsible for managing procurement activities to ensure timely and cost-effective acquisition of materials, equipment, and subcontractor services for construction projects. This role supports the project management and estimating teams by coordinating with vendors, negotiating pricing, tracking orders, and maintaining accurate purchasing records.

Key Responsibilities:

Source, evaluate, and purchase construction materials, equipment, and supplies in alignment with project budgets and schedules.

Solicit bids and negotiate pricing, terms, and delivery with suppliers and subcontractors to ensure optimal cost and quality.

Prepare and issue purchase orders and subcontract agreements in accordance with company policies.

Collaborate with Project Managers, Superintendents, and Estimators to forecast material needs and verify specifications.

Track and manage order status, delivery timelines, and backorders to prevent jobsite delays.

Maintain and update vendor and supplier databases, ensuring current pricing and performance history.

Review and reconcile invoices with purchase orders and packing slips; resolve discrepancies with Accounting and vendors.

Support budget monitoring and cost control by maintaining accurate purchasing logs and reports.

Ensure compliance with safety standards, company policies, and procurement best practices.

Assist with inventory management and coordination of material deliveries to multiple job sites.

Qualifications:

Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, Construction Management, or related field preferred.

2+ years of purchasing or procurement experience in the construction industry required.

Strong knowledge of construction materials, equipment, and vendor processes.

Excellent communication and negotiation skills.

Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite; experience with construction management or ERP software (e.g., Procore, Viewpoint, Sage, or Buildertrend) is a plus.

Strong organizational skills and attention to detail in a fast-paced environment.

Ability to work collaboratively with project teams and vendors to meet deadlines and project goals.
