Overview
Pharmacy operations role responsible for day-to-day non-clinical pharmacy operations, administrative activities, and ensuring efficient workflow and a positive patient experience. Serves as a full-time certified pharmacy technician under the supervision of a pharmacist and pharmacy leadership. Responsibilities
Operate pharmacy systems to obtain patient and drug information and process prescriptions. Work under the supervision of a pharmacist, supervising pharmacy technicians and pharmacy cashiers within approved policies, laws, regulations and business ethics. Lead selection, scheduling, and development of pharmacy technician personnel. Manage training, coaching, and performance management of pharmacy technicians. Make decisions regarding performance management including discipline and termination. Engage customers and patients, greet and assist with products and services, resolve complaints, respond to requests in a timely manner, and model customer service best practices to ensure a positive customer experience. Develop strong customer relationships by anticipating needs and offering services to enhance the experience when using the pharmacy. Assist the pharmacist in patient care delivery including patient registration, prescription data entry, preparation and verification of medications (where allowed by law), and performing patient/physician calls under supervision. Support healthcare service offerings including administering vaccines, health screenings, and other services allowed by law, under pharmacist supervision. Coordinate and manage core pharmacy workflow, daily schedule, and inventory management in alignment with company policies and regulatory requirements. Ensure the facility is clean, stocked, and compliant with safety and security standards. Prepare and file reports and records required by the company and government agencies as directed by the Pharmacy Manager or pharmacist. Drive technology and process improvements, communicate changes to the team, and collaborate with the Pharmacy Manager on recordkeeping and security safeguards. People & Performance Management
Lead technician performance management, including disciplinary decisions, and maintain a productive, compliant team through constructive discipline and performance improvement practices. Oversee technician hiring, onboarding, training, scheduling, and ensure timely completion of training. Identify gaps in operations knowledge and support team members through hands-on training or learning modules. Monitor licensure, registrations, and certifications; maintain compliance with regulatory requirements using available verification resources. Support recruitment, record retention, and training procedures in accordance with company policy and laws. Training & Personal Development
Maintain PTCB certification and relevant state certifications/registrations. Maintain and enhance knowledge related to pharmacy and healthcare; pursue certifications and training as required by the company; participate in performance improvement plans as directed. Seek professional development, solicit feedback, and engage supervisor as mentor and coach. Qualifications
High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent. PTCB or ExCPT certification (except in Puerto Rico). One year of work experience as a pharmacy technician in a retail or hospital setting. Must be fluent in reading, writing, and speaking English (except in Puerto Rico). Willingness to work a flexible schedule, including evenings and weekends. Willingness to obtain active immunization certification within 90 days of hire (except in Community Specialty Pharmacy and Health System Pharmacy locations). Preferred Qualifications
Previous people management or leadership experience. Previous work experience with Walgreens with an Exceeding Expectation on last performance evaluation.
