Summary
Organizational Location: This position is with the Department of Homeland Security, within U.S. Customs and Border Protection, Office of Professional Responsibility, Personnel Security Division located in Washington D.C. Additional selections may be made for other organizational divisions and/or units within the duty location(s) listed above.
Overview Open & closing dates: 11/03/2025 to 11/07/2025.
Salary $142,488 to $185,234 per year (GS-14 Step 1 to Step 10).
Location Washington, DC.

Responsibilities
The incumbent serves as a first-level supervisor and is responsible for supervising a subordinate staff and performing studies of processes and organizational effectiveness in various assigned functional areas.
Review guidance from higher headquarters, develop and implement policies and procedures, and ensure activities understand required guidance.
Provide expert advice to executive managers, supervisors, and other personnel regarding policies related to staffing, budgeting, database access, FOIA, etc.
Oversee programs to determine progress, adjust resource allocations.
Plan, develop, and coordinate meetings, briefings, presentations for executive management.
Design and administer planning and controls for data submission, budgeting and program resource requests.
Requirements
U.S. Citizenship.
Selective Service registration for males born after 12/31/1959.
Residency in U.S. for at least 3 of last 5 years.
English proficiency for all pre‑employment processes.
Drug testing required.
Background investigation required.
Strong writing and communication skills.
Qualifications
1 year of specialized experience at GS-13 or equivalent performing duties such as:
Reviewing status of long‑range plans.
Providing technical assistance on FOIA, staffing, budget, policy.
Developing and implementing policies and ensuring alignment with guidance.
Recommending operational improvements.
Must explicitly indicate how qualifications met; resume must be no more than two pages.
