Job Details Fusion Medical Staffing is seeking a skilled Occupational Therapy Assistant to join a clinical team for a travel assignment. You will provide direct, hands‑on therapeutic interventions under the supervision of a licensed OT to help patients regain functional independence.
Required Qualifications
Valid Occupational Therapy Assistant license in compliance with state regulations.
Current Basic Life Support certification (AHA/ARC).
Preferred Qualifications
Certification as COTA (NBCOT).
Graduate of an accredited occupational therapy program.
Occupational Therapy Assistant experience; new graduates are welcome.
Other certifications or licenses may be required for this position.
Summary The Occupational Therapy Assistant implements individualized treatment plans, assists with adaptive techniques and equipment, and educates patients and families on strategies to enhance functional independence. Work is performed under the supervision of a licensed OT.
Essential Work Functions
Deliver individualized occupational therapy interventions according to the treatment plan.
Maintain and operate adaptive equipment and assistive devices.
Educate patients and caregivers about therapy techniques and self‑management strategies.
Collaborate with Occupational Therapists and other health professionals to coordinate care.
Monitor patient responses and document outcomes accurately.
Report findings promptly to the supervising OT.
Provide care in diverse settings, including hospitals, rehab centers, and community clinics.
Adapt interventions to meet the needs of each clinical setting.
Prioritize tasks efficiently to manage multiple patients.
Maintain a safe treatment environment by following infection control and safety protocols.
Perform additional duties as assigned within scope of practice.
Required Essential Skills
Critical thinking, service excellence, and strong interpersonal communication.
Proficiency in reading, writing, and speaking English.
Ability to follow written and verbal instructions; competent PC skills.
Physical ability to remain stationary, move equipment (50–100 lbs), push, pull, and bend.
Interpersonal skills to work effectively with varied personnel.
Technical/motor skills for fine manipulation and assisting with procedures.
Mental resilience to handle frequent public contact, meet deadlines, and work under varying schedules.
Sensory acuity to communicate effectively.
