As a Surface Maintenance Mechanic you will: Troubleshoot, maintain, and repair heavy‑duty mobile equipment, including combat, tactical, automotive vehicles, and accessories. Diagnose mechanical failures using visual, auditory checks, and test equipment (engine analyzers, compression testers, voltmeters, ohmmeters, pressure gauges, diagnostic tools). Remove, disassemble, and overhaul engines and major assemblies; reassemble and test systems per repair specifications. Repair electrical and suspension systems and support field and limited sustainment maintenance at unit locations. Inspect and maintain readiness of vehicles; perform preventive maintenance operations. Assist lower‑grade mechanics and provide technical guidance. Maintain production reports, recommend improvements, and follow safety and quality standards. Requirements

Conditions of Employment:

Must be a National Guard service member, wear uniform, provide Selective Service registration (if applicable), pass background investigation, obtain required security clearance, and may be required to work overtime. Must meet all domestic violence and EEO statutory requirements. Qualifications

Military Grades:

Enlisted – E‑6 and below. Experience: WG‑05: Experience with hand tools and routine repairs. WG‑08: Proficiency with hand and power tools, test devices, and mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic theory. WG‑10: Advanced diagnostics, overhaul, and modification of complex systems. Quality of experience is assessed on the basis of duties performed, not rank. Education
