Summary Oversees a multidisciplinary laboratory team to meet regulatory standards and optimize efficiency within budget constraints. Provides ethical business leadership, fosters customer‑focused systems, and upholds accountability across clinical and support staff. Works closely with executives on policy, performance improvement plans, and patient‑education programs.
Responsibilities
Ensure maximum efficiency and responsiveness within budgeted resource allocations.
Manage a multi‑disciplinary workforce to comply with standards set by accrediting, licensing, regulatory agencies, and the Public Health Trust.
Develop and maintain effective working relationships with all service‑providing disciplines while conducting business ethically and respecting customers’ rights.
Implement customer‑focused systems, processes, and behaviors; establish accountability for clinical, clerical, and support personnel.
Lead through the development, communication, implementation, and evaluation of the Lab Services mission, goals, and objectives, ensuring alignment with the Division, Medical Staff, and Public Health Trust.
Develop and execute performance‑improvement plans in collaboration with the Executive Performance Improvement Council and the department Performance Improvement Council.
Communicate clinical, administrative, and environmental issues within the department and the Public Health Trust.
Ensure appropriate technology and systems are used and analyzed to convey information effectively.
Conduct staff recruitment, retention, evaluation, and motivation; implement department goals and responsibilities.
Participate in staff development through orientation, training, and mandatory educational programs.
Collaborate with executives on fiscal, human, material, and informational resource policies; manage clinical care, case management, and patient/family education programs.
Ensure continuity of care, early discharge planning, and effective utilization of Public Health Trust and community resources.
Perform all other related duties as assigned.
Experience Generally requires 5 to 7 years of related experience with management experience required.
Education Bachelor’s degree in a related field is required; Master’s degree is preferred.

Handle difficult and stressful situations with critical thinking and professional composure.

Credentials Valid license or certification required as needed, based on the job or specialty.
