Job Description
Key Responsibilities:
Leadership and Staff Management:
- Lead and supervise the pharmacy team, including pharmacists, technicians, and support staff, fostering a collaborative and professional work environment.
- Provide training, mentorship, and professional development opportunities to enhance staff skills and knowledge.
- Ensure that the pharmacy team operates with high standards of quality, safety, and customer service.
Operational Oversight:
- Develop, implement, and maintain pharmacy policies, procedures, and protocols in compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.
- Oversee medication procurement, storage, dispensing, and inventory management to ensure accuracy and availability of pharmaceuticals.
- Manage the pharmacy budget, including forecasting, cost control, and resource allocation to support departmental goals and maintain operational excellence.
Regulatory Compliance and Quality Control:
- Ensure continuous quality improvement by monitoring performance metrics, conducting audits, and addressing identified issues.
- Stay current with advancements in pharmacy practice, technology, and regulatory changes, and guide departmental innovation and compliance.
- Implement and monitor medication therapy management and patient safety initiatives in collaboration with medical staff.
Strategic Planning:
- Collaborate with healthcare professionals to develop and implement medication management policies that align with organizational goals.
- Optimize departmental resources and processes to improve patient outcomes and operational efficiency.
Qualifications:
Minimum Qualifications:
- Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) degree from an accredited institution.
- Current and unrestricted pharmacist license in the state of Louisiana.
- Minimum of 5 years of progressive pharmacy experience, including at least 2 years in a supervisory or management role.
- Strong knowledge of pharmacy laws, regulations, and accreditation standards.
- Demonstrated experience in budget management and operational oversight within a healthcare setting.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with electronic health records (EHR) and pharmacy information systems.
- Advanced leadership training or certification (e.g., Certified Pharmacy Executive).
- Experience working in a hospital or large healthcare system environment.
- Proven track record of implementing quality improvement initiatives and patient safety programs.
