Key Responsibilities:

Leadership and Staff Management:

  • Lead and supervise the pharmacy team, including pharmacists, technicians, and support staff, fostering a collaborative and professional work environment.
  • Provide training, mentorship, and professional development opportunities to enhance staff skills and knowledge.
  • Ensure that the pharmacy team operates with high standards of quality, safety, and customer service.


Operational Oversight:

  • Develop, implement, and maintain pharmacy policies, procedures, and protocols in compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.
  • Oversee medication procurement, storage, dispensing, and inventory management to ensure accuracy and availability of pharmaceuticals.
  • Manage the pharmacy budget, including forecasting, cost control, and resource allocation to support departmental goals and maintain operational excellence.


Regulatory Compliance and Quality Control:

  • Ensure continuous quality improvement by monitoring performance metrics, conducting audits, and addressing identified issues.
  • Stay current with advancements in pharmacy practice, technology, and regulatory changes, and guide departmental innovation and compliance.
  • Implement and monitor medication therapy management and patient safety initiatives in collaboration with medical staff.


Strategic Planning:

  • Collaborate with healthcare professionals to develop and implement medication management policies that align with organizational goals.
  • Optimize departmental resources and processes to improve patient outcomes and operational efficiency.



Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) degree from an accredited institution.
  • Current and unrestricted pharmacist license in the state of Louisiana.
  • Minimum of 5 years of progressive pharmacy experience, including at least 2 years in a supervisory or management role.
  • Strong knowledge of pharmacy laws, regulations, and accreditation standards.
  • Demonstrated experience in budget management and operational oversight within a healthcare setting.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with electronic health records (EHR) and pharmacy information systems.
  • Advanced leadership training or certification (e.g., Certified Pharmacy Executive).
  • Experience working in a hospital or large healthcare system environment.
  • Proven track record of implementing quality improvement initiatives and patient safety programs.

  • Regulatory Compliance: Strong understanding of regulatory requirements and safety standards.

  • Healthcare Technology: Proficiency with healthcare information systems and data management.
  • Communication: Strong verbal and written communication skills to effectively interact with healthcare professionals and staff.
