Department:

The Ohio State University College of Medicine and the Wexner Medical Center.

Position Overview:

Reporting to the Department Chair, this Fellowship Program Director will be responsible for the oversight and supervision of educational and patient care outcomes within the training program. The Program Director will work in collaboration with Department leadership, GME leadership, hospital administrative leadership, and other applicable leadership to provide operational leadership with the Department and OSUWMC.

Department / Division Overview:

The Department of Radiology is rapidly growing, with expanded services at off‑site imaging centers, and renovations to our existing clinical spaces and new spaces through the medical center strategic expansion project ($3+ Billion). The new building includes a 830‑bed Hospital Tower, a biomedical research tower, and a Health Sciences building housing the College of Medicine.

Responsibilities

Provide leadership of the educational mission of the training program, ensuring appropriate trainee milestone achievement, oversight of faculty teaching performance/role modeling, and assigning teaching faculty based on performance.

Foster an effective, safe learning environment promoting an interdisciplinary healthcare team that supports education and provides high quality, effective clinical services to patients and does so in a balanced fashion.

Assess fellowship quality outcome metrics – both educational and patient care, while also supporting wise resource utilization and appropriate adherence to protocol and practice guidelines by trainees.

Ensure the education and training of supervising physicians commensurate with their activity in OSUWMC and that trainees are provided prior supervision commensurate to skill/knowledge of trainee.

Assure the Department of Radiology and OSUWMC meets the accreditation and regulatory standards of the Joint Commission, HIPAA, OSHA, and any other accrediting or regulatory bodies as may be appropriate for the corresponding subspecialty area.

Lead the recruitment of exceptional trainees and collaborate with the clinical department to ensure the retention of high‑performing individuals.

Develop a training program that is highly regarded and recommended by peers with attention to improving program national rankings, where applicable.

Encourage fellow involvement with review and implementation of clinical practice guidelines and care protocols pertinent to the training program, and ensure trainee compliance with these tools.

Monitor and track the key indicators of the program’s success including trainee performance, evaluation data, surveys, procedure data, faculty development, graduate performance, and program quality.

In collaboration with key constituents, develop and support an educational curriculum that meets the needs of the trainees.

Attend appropriate administrative meetings as necessary to ensure the success of the program, Department, and OSUWMC.

Assure timely completion of documentation, including annual surveys, program updates, responses to citations/areas for improvement, training procedural data, and milestone reporting.

Requirements

M.D., D.O., or equivalent degree.

Board eligible or board certified in Radiology (ABR, ABOR).

Subspecialty fellowship in Thoracic.

Three years of post-fellowship experience.

Must possess or be eligible for licensure in the State of Ohio.
