Pay Range Base pay range: $5,843.00 - $6,797.00 (S), $6,040.00 - $7,203.00 (T), $6,261.00 - $7,466.00 (U). New to State candidates will be hired into the minimum salary of the classification or the minimum of alternate range when applicable.

Job Overview At the Department of Developmental Services (DOODS) State‑Operated Facilities Division (SOFD), we provide innovative approaches to meet evolving needs of staff and consumers. The Stabilization Training Assistance Re‑Integration (STAR) homes are staffed 24/7 and serve individuals with Intellectual/Developmental Disabilities experiencing an acute crisis. The staff within the home strive to empower individuals through person‑centered approaches to lead self‑determined lives. The PT provides general behavioral training and psychiatric nursing care to STAR consumers, performs on‑site direct care, training, and participates in recreational activities, and cross‑trains consumer’s community home staff or family to maintain continuity of care. The PT maintains required credentials and attends mandatory trainings.

Responsibilities

Provide psychiatric nursing care and general behavioral training to STAR consumers.

Perform on‑site direct care, training, and participate in recreational activities.

Cross‑train consumer’s community home staff or family to maintain continuity of care.

Maintain required clinician credentials and attend mandatory trainings.

Participate in documented care planning, documentation and reporting.

Working Conditions On‑going interaction with consumers with developmental disabilities and severe psychiatric conditions. Potential exposure to communicable diseases, blood‑borne pathogens, medicinal preparations, and travel with possible overnight stays.

Special Requirements

Valid California Driver’s License (CDL) with class, expiration, endorsements or restrictions.

Pass drug screening and background investigation.

Medical clearance prior to hiring.

Valid Psychiatric Technician License; provide copy prior to hiring.

Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) certificate within 12 months of employment; provide high school diploma verification.

Must successfully complete competency‑based Direct Support Professional training I and II, or pass a challenge test within one year of employment.
