Job Summary
Donor Center Technician 1 position at Octapharma Plasma, Inc. The role supports donor center operations while ensuring compliance with regulations and maintaining donor safety.

Responsibilities
Ensure operation is compliant with state and federal regulations (e.g., FDA approved SOPs, OSHA, CLIA, GMP).
Maintain high level of customer service and positive donor experience.
Maintain cleanliness and organization of work area.
Maintain donor center equipment per SOP and manufacturer instructions.
Monitor donor conditions and employ techniques to ensure donor comfort, safety, and product quality.
Maintain donor confidentiality per company policy.
Maintain accurate record keeping per SOP.
Respond to machine alarms/alerts and perform routine QCs on equipment.
Clean spills and dispose of biohazardous waste properly.
Verify donor eligibility criteria per SOP.
Perform donor vitals evaluation per SOP.
Perform finger stick for Microhematocrit and Total Protein determination.
Register applicant donors per SOP.
Set up and prepare equipment and disposable supplies for venipuncture and plasmapheresis.
Disconnect donors after completion.
Maintain proper ratio to ensure donor safety and product quality.
Operate automated plasmapheresis machines, respond to donor adverse events, document exceptions.
Collect and store plasma product and samples sterilely per SOP.
Handle tested and untested product, and product with unsuitable results.
Organize samples and product in walk-in freezer per SOP.
Prepare product and samples for shipments per SOP and federal regulations.
Monitor freezer and refrigerator temperatures; report variances.
Perform other job-related tasks as assigned.
Requirements
High school diploma or equivalent.
Three months experience in clerical or customer service position preferred.
State certification or licensing as required.
Basic computer knowledge and skills.
Ability to speak, read, write, and understand English.
Bilingual in Spanish preferred (location specific).
Strong customer service skills.
Strong organizational skills.
Ability to read, follow, and interpret regulations, instructions, and manuals.
Ability to understand verbal instruction.
Ability to read numbers and perform basic math calculations.
Effective communication skills.
Must be available for day, evening, weekend, holiday, and extended shifts.
Attendance and punctuality required.
Physical Requirements
Always utilize all required and appropriate PPE.
Ability to sit or stand for extended periods.
Ability to tug, lift, and pull up to thirty‑five pounds.
Ability to bend, stoop, or kneel.
Occupational exposure to blood borne pathogens.
Ability to view video display terminal less than 18 inches away for extended periods up to four hours at a time.
Enter an environment with a temperature of –40°C or colder according to SOP.
Ability to perform precise tasks requiring repetitive small motor skills, such as drawing blood for diagnostic tests.
Ability to use assistive devices if needed for mobility or communication.
