Donor Center Technician 3

Responsibilities
Ensure total operation is compliant with state and federal regulations (FDA approved Standard Operating Procedures, OSHA, CLIA, GMP).
Maintain a high level of customer service and positive donor experience in line with company values.
Maintain cleanliness of work area and keep supplies stocked.
Maintain Donor Center equipment per SOP and manufacturer instructions.
Monitor donor conditions to ensure comfort, safety, and product quality.
Maintain donor confidentiality.
Keep accurate records per SOP.
Clean blood or plasma spills and dispose of biohazardous waste properly.
Mentor junior Technicians and serve as Designated Trainer.
Partner with Quality Assurance on center performance, CAPA implementation, and continuous improvement.
Respond to machine alarms/alerts and perform routine QCs.
Oversee donor flow, schedule lunches, breaks, and overall adherence.
Assist with storage room organization using FIFO.
Verify donor eligibility per SOP.
Perform donor vitals and finger‑stick for microhematocrit and total protein.
Register donor applicants per SOP.
Set up and prepare equipment and supplies for venipuncture and plasmapheresis.
Disconnect donor after plasmapheresis per SOP.
Maintain proper donor-to-product ratio.
Operate automated plasmapheresis machines, respond to donor adverse events, and document exceptions.
Collect and store plasma product and samples sterically and timely.
Handle tested, untested, and unsuitable product.
Organize samples and product in walk‑in storage freezer.
Prepare product and samples for shipment per SOP and federal transportation regulations.
Monitor freezer and refrigerator temperatures; report variances.
After initial training, act as QA‑Backup or NexSys Technician as needed.
Perform other job‑related tasks as assigned.
What It Takes
Three months’ experience in a clerical or customer service position (preferred).
High school diploma or equivalent (GED) required.
State‑specific certification or license required where applicable.
Basic computer knowledge.
Ability to work day, evening, weekend, holiday, and extended shifts regularly.
Attendance and punctuality required.
Competent English spoken, read, and written.
Strong customer service and organizational skills.
Ability to read, follow, and interpret regulations, instructions, and manuals.
Ability to understand verbal instruction and perform basic calculations.
Effective communication skills.
Physical Requirements
Use all required PPE.
Capability to sit or stand for extended periods.
Lift, tug, or pull up to 35 pounds.
Ability to bend, stoop, or kneel.
Exposure to blood‑borne pathogens.
Operate video terminal less than 18” away for up to 4 hours.
Work in environments up to –40 °C for extended periods.
Occasional handling of dry ice.
Perform precise repetitive small motor skill tasks.
Use assistive devices if needed for mobility or communication.
