CA Donor Center Technician 1 Octapharma Plasma is looking for a dedicated Technician to join our team in Tulare, CA. The role offers a great learning environment and growth opportunities across our donation centers.
Responsibilities
Ensure total operation is compliant with state and federal regulations (e.g., FDA-approved SOPs, OSHA, CLIA, GMP) to maintain the highest production standards.
Maintain high levels of customer service and a positive donor experience.
Keep work area clean, organized, and stocked with sufficient supplies to meet production demands.
Maintain Donor Center equipment per Standard Operating Procedures and manufacturer instructions.
Monitor donor conditions, employ techniques to ensure donor comfort, safety, and product quality.
Maintain donor confidentiality in accordance with company policy.
Keep complete and accurate records as per SOP.
Troubleshoot machine alarms/alerts and perform routine QCs on equipment.
Clean any blood or plasma spills and dispose of biohazardous waste properly.
Verify donor eligibility per SOP.
Perform finger stick for microhematocrit and total protein determination.
Register applicant donors per SOP.
Set up and prepare all equipment and disposable supplies for venipuncture and plasmapheresis procedures.
Disconnect donor after plasmapheresis is completed.
Maintain proper ratio to ensure donor safety and product quality.
Operate automated plasmapheresis machines, respond to alarms and donor adverse events, and document exceptions.
Collect and store plasma product and samples in a sterile manner per SOP.
Handle tested, untested, and unsuitable test result products appropriately.
Organize samples and product in walk-in storage freezer per SOP.
Prepare product and samples for shipments per SOP and federal transportation regulations.
Monitor freezer and refrigerator temperatures, report variances.
Perform other job‑related tasks as assigned.
Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent (GED) required.
Three months’ experience in a clerical or customer service position preferred.
Specific certification or licensing based on State requirements.
Basic computer knowledge and skills required.
Ability to speak, read, write (legibly and accurately), and understand English required.
Bilingual in Spanish preferred (location specific).
Strong customer service and organizational skills required.
Ability to read, follow, and interpret regulations, instructions, and manuals required.
Ability to understand verbal instruction required.
Basic math skills required.
Effective communication skills required.
Must be able to work day and evening hours, weekends, holidays, and extended shifts on a frequent basis.
Attendance and punctuality required.
Physical Requirements
Always utilize required PPE.
Ability to sit or stand for extended periods.
Ability to tug, lift, and pull up to thirty-five pounds.
Ability to bend, stoop, or kneel.
Occupational exposure to blood borne pathogens.
Ability to view a video display terminal less than 18” away for up to four hours at a time.
Ability to work in environments at -40°C or colder per SOP.
Ability to perform precise tasks requiring repetitive small motor skills.
Ability to use assistive devices for mobility or communication if needed.

Pay Transparency The expected base pay for this position at hiring is $16.95–$22.60–$28.25. Individual base pay is determined by qualifications, skill level, experience, competencies, and other relevant factors.
