Responsibilities
Ensure total operation compliance with state and federal regulations (e.g., FDA-approved SOPs, OSHA, CLIA, GMP) to maintain the highest production standards.
Maintain a high level of customer service and positive donor experience in line with company values and culture.
Maintain cleanliness of the work area and keep supplies stocked to meet production demands.
Maintain Donor Center equipment according to SOPs and manufacturer instructions.
Monitor donor conditions, using techniques to ensure donor comfort, safety, and product quality.
Maintain donor confidentiality per company policy.
Maintain complete and accurate record‑keeping per SOPs.
Clean any blood or plasma spills and perform proper procedure for disposition of biohazardous waste.
Mentor junior Donor Center Technicians, driving training efficiencies and acting as a Designated Trainer.
Partner with Quality Assurance on overall center performance (observations, CAPA, continuous improvement initiatives).
Troubleshoot machine alarms/alerts and perform QCs routinely (daily/monthly) and periodically (quarterly/annually).
Oversee donor flow and schedule, coordinating lunch breaks and overall adherence.
Assist with storage room organization, applying FIFO methods.
Ensure donors meet eligibility criteria per SOPs.
Perform finger stick for Microhematocrit and Total Protein determination.
Set up and prepare all equipment and disposable supplies for venipuncture and plasmapheresis procedures per SOP.
Disconnect donors after plasmapheresis per SOP.
Maintain proper ratio to ensure donor safety and product quality.
Operate automated plasmapheresis machines, respond to alarms and adverse events, and document exceptions.
Promptly and sterlessly collect and store plasma product and samples.
Handle tested, untested, and unsuitable product.
Properly organize samples and product in walk‑in storage freezer per SOP.
Prepare products and samples for shipment per SOP and federal regulations.
Monitor freezer and refrigerator temperatures and report discrepancies.
After initial training, serve as QA‑Backup and/or NexSys Technician as needed.
Perform other job‐related tasks as assigned.
Qualifications
Three (3) months’ experience in a clerical or customer service position preferred.
High school diploma or equivalent (GED) required.
Specific certification or licensing based on state requirements.
Basic computer knowledge and skills required.
Must be able to work daytime and evening hours, weekends, holidays, and extended shifts on a frequent basis.
Attendance and punctuality required.
Ability to speak, read, write (legibly and accurately), and understand English.
Strong customer service skills required.
Strong organizational skills required.
Ability to read, follow, and interpret regulations, instructions, and manuals.
Ability to understand verbal instruction.
Ability to read numbers on screening equipment and perform basic math.
Effective communication skills required.
Physical Requirements
Utilize all required and appropriate PPE at all times.
Ability to sit or stand for extended periods.
Ability to tug, lift, and pull up to thirty‑five pounds.
Ability to bend, stoop, or kneel.
Occupational exposure to blood‑borne pathogens.
Ability to view video display terminal less than 18” away from face for extended periods up to four hours at a time.
Ability to work in an environment with a temperature of –40 °C or colder for extended periods.
Occasional exposure to and handling of dry ice.
Ability to perform precise tasks requiring repetitive small‑motor skills.
Ability to use assistive devices if needed for mobility or communication.
