About the Department The NC Department of Adult Correction is one of the largest state agencies with more than

14,000

It is responsible for safeguarding and preserving lives and property through prevention, protection, and preparation as well as the care, custody, and supervision of all adults sentenced for violating North Carolina laws. This department includes state prisons with custody, healthcare, and facility operations staff as well as probation/parole officers who supervised sentenced people in the community. Other divisions include Administration, Health Services, Rehabilitation & Reentry, Special Operations and the Post-Release Supervision & Parole Commission. We have a mission that matters!

Description of Work This specialized position provides information, advice, and services in employee time entry and payroll review at the division level and offers expanded opportunities for a potential leadership role. The role will assist with current and routine time administration issues, participate in division-level processes and decision making, use the HR Integrated System (formerly Beacon) for research, problem solving, and occasional time entry, and be assigned to special time and pay initiatives for prison facility staff where directives can be complicated and technical. The position must thoroughly learn and understand these directives and serve as a subject‑matter expert to division management, regional administrative staff, facility administrative staff, and employees. Management will work closely with the position to ensure directives meet business needs. The role will also routinely provide time and leave reports to management, analyze areas requiring attention, perform special time entry functions for a small number of employees each month (typically related to Leave of Absence periods), and maintain appropriate records and documentation following standard HR records retention schedules.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

Documented knowledge and/or experience in FIORI using SAP/GUI

Demonstrated experience with Human Resources

Documented experience using Excel, MS Word, Outlook or similar systems

Minimum Education and Experience Associate’s degree in Human Resources or a related field (appropriately accredited institution) no prior experience required, or high school/GED diploma and 2 years of progressive experience in Human Resources.
