Physical Requirements:

Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull 50–100 pounds on a daily basis; stand, walk, sit for long periods; exposure to communicable diseases and risk of radiation.

Shift:

Must work at least 36 hours per month, including days, evenings, nights and occasionally weekends or holidays.

Job Summary Registered Nurses in the RN on‑call position in the Birthing Center at Chandler Hospital will provide comprehensive, patient‑centered care for units including Labor & Delivery, Mother & Baby, and Newborn Nursery. The role involves caring for laboring patients, scheduled inductions, cesarean sections, and high‑risk ante‑ or postpartum patients. The staff collaborates to enhance communication and patient outcomes, with an emphasis on the nursing process and a patient‑centered plan of care.

Responsibilities

Assess, document, plan, implement, teach, develop, and evaluate a comprehensive nursing plan of care.

Provide direct patient care and ensure patient satisfaction.

Train, delegate, and supervise Nursing Care Technicians (Nursing Assistants).

Adhere to University policies, hospital policies, and federal, state, and local regulations.

Collaborate with physicians and other health‑care team members to improve communication and outcomes.

Knowledge of Maslow’s Basic Human Needs, Gordon’s Functional Health Patterns, and Swanson’s Caring model.

Superb direct patient care and critical‑thinking skills.

Basic computer navigation and internet skills.

Professional, respectful communication with patients, families, coworkers, and physicians.

Strong organizational, prioritization, and delegation abilities.

Motivated, proactive, confident in patient advocacy; enjoys teamwork and open communication.
