Job Purpose And Summary As a Pharmacy Technician, you will support the pharmacy team in delivering operational and service excellence within your store. You will be the first point of contact for patients and customers, ensuring prescriptions are filled promptly, safely, and accurately. You will perform tasks under the supervision of the Pharmacy Manager and comply with all state Board of Pharmacy regulations.
Key Responsibilities
Follow all company SOPs at each workstation and help Pharmacists manage and improve patient health.
Execute pharmacy workflow procedures for safe and accurate prescription fulfillment (production, pick‑up, drive‑thru, drop‑off).
Deliver excellent patient experiences by showing empathy, offering immunizations, and handling patient inquiries over the phone and in person.
Assist with inventory activities: returning medications, cycle counts, waiting‑bin inventories, and returns to stock.
Continuously improve clinical and technical knowledge and seek opportunities for growth.
Remain flexible for scheduling and travel to stores within the market as needed.
Comply with all federal, state, and local laws, regulations, and CVS policies to protect patient safety and privacy.
Provide additional patient health care services such as immunizations, point‑of‑care testing, and off‑site clinic staffing where authorized.
Optional Immunization Responsibilities (if permitted)
Obtain Technician Immunizer status through licensing and training.
Educate patients about vaccines and refer questions to the pharmacist‑on‑duty.
Monitor and report adverse reactions per public health requirements.
Track and document vaccine supplies and patient information.
Manage vaccine inventories.
Required Qualifications
Compliance with state board of pharmacy requirements (age, education, licensure/certification).
If no state board age requirement, must be at least 16 years of age.
If no state board educational requirement, must have a high school diploma or equivalent, or be actively enrolled in high school.
State‑level licensure and national certification requirements vary by state.
Essential Functions
Regular attendance, including nights and weekends.
Complete required training within designated timeframe.
Attention and focus: concentrate on tasks, pivot quickly, and confirm prescription accuracy.
Customer service and team orientation: help people, respond appropriately to patient reactions.
Communication skills: verbal and written communication with patients and colleagues.
Mathematical reasoning: calculate doses, fill prescriptions accurately.
Problem resolution: identify challenging interactions and choose best action.
Physical demands: mobility, lifting, reaching, repetitive finger motions, and occasional lifting up to 20 lbs.
Other tasks as directed by supervisor or manager.
Preferred Qualifications
1–3 years of experience as a Pharmacy Technician.
Experience in a pharmacy, retail, medical, or customer service setting.
Ability to work in home stores and across the market to meet business needs.
Work Schedule
Anticipated weekly hours: 20
Time type: Part time
Pay range: $19.46 per hour (base rate)
