The City of McKinney Parks & Recreation Department is hosting a hiring event on Saturday, February 7, 2026 (8:00 AM – 1:00 PM). To be considered, you must apply for this position.

Summary of Position Under direct supervision of the Recreation Supervisor, the Day Camp Counselor plans, organizes, and implements various camp activities for children ages 6 to 12.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Plan, organize, and implement camp activities (sports, arts and crafts, nature, music, drama, field trips, cookouts).
Lead, supervise, and conduct classes and activities.
Supervise children, respond immediately during emergencies, and administer first aid as necessary.
Assist in control of equipment and supplies, maintain attendance, discipline and other records.
Effectively communicate with children, parents/guardians, bus drivers, and the public.
Arrive to work on time each day and set‑up/take‑down equipment, requiring lifting up to 75 lb.
Drive van for field trips if required.
Perform any additional duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
Six months experience planning, coordinating, and implementing recreation programs for children ages 6‑12.
Minimum age 18 years old.
Current CPR and First Aid certifications.
Valid Texas driver’s license with a safe driving record.
Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to motivate children and maintain a positive, disciplined atmosphere.
Preferred Qualifications
Some related work experience (preferred, not required).
Conditions of Employment
Must pass a drug screen and background check.
