What to Expect (Job Responsibilities)
Improve the accuracy of facility outpatient clinical documentation coding and charging
Educate clinical departments and coding staff on documentation and charging policies
Assist clinical areas in effectively documenting services and understanding the relationship between documentation and charging
Review health records to determine applicable charges/codes for hospital/facility billing
Utilize coding/billing resources to ensure compliance with regulations and standards
What is Required (Qualifications)
High School Diploma or General Education Diploma (GED)
CPC, COC, RHIA, or RHIT certification
Minimum of 5 years of recent relevant experience
Strong knowledge of medical terminology, disease processes, and the medical record coding process
Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
How to Stand Out (Preferred Qualifications)
Experience with electronic medical records, preferably EPIC
Strong project management skills and effective organizational abilities
Familiarity with Revenue Cycle applications and hospital billing functions
Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to communicate with senior leadership
Knowledge of Medicare APC and OPPS reimbursement structures
