What to Expect (Job Responsibilities):
Improve the accuracy of outpatient clinical documentation coding and charging
Educate clinical departments and coding staff on documentation standards
Assist clinical areas in effectively documenting services in compliance with policies
Analyze and correct root causes affecting accurate charging and coding
Ensure adherence to Sutter Health policies and procedures regarding documentation
What is Required (Qualifications):
High School Diploma or General Education Diploma (GED)
CPC-Certified Professional Coder, COC-Certified Outpatient Coder, RHIA, or RHIT certification
Minimum of 5 years of recent relevant experience in a healthcare setting
Strong knowledge of medical terminology, coding processes, and hospital billing functions
Proficient with Microsoft Office applications and electronic medical records (EPIC preferred)
How to Stand Out (Preferred Qualifications):
Familiarity with Revenue Cycle applications and Medicare reimbursement structures
Demonstrated strong project management and interpersonal skills
Experience communicating effectively with senior leadership and department heads
In-depth knowledge of outpatient national correct coding edits and billing terminology
