Description of Work This position is located at Central Prison Health Complex (CPHC), Raleigh, NC, Wake County. CPHC is a closed‑custody prison housing male offenders, serving as the hub for healthcare for the male inmate population with a maximum capacity of 1,318 offenders. The primary purpose of CPHC is to provide inpatient treatment using evidence‑based medical practices, therapy programs, surgical services, post‑operative care, etc., enabling patients to be returned to their parent facility as quickly as possible.

Responsibilities

Direct supervision of all nursing staff, including staff schedules, assignments, orientation, performance improvement evaluations, and clinical competency evaluations.

Supervise and conduct needs assessments, develop, implement, and evaluate treatment plans, and provide patient care and education to offenders.

Ensure all policies and procedures are followed and submit short and long‑term goals to leadership for review and approval.

Perform administrative duties such as planning, organizing, and managing daily operations, quality assurance, human resource management functions, and staff development.

Develop and maintain effective communication and work relationships with physicians, upper‑management healthcare personnel, patients, families, agencies, and others.

Identify and address quality monitoring and performance improvement issues for the facility.

May be required to work any schedule to ensure medical operational needs are met at the facility level.

Salary Range $74,204 – $122,437

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSA) / Management Preferences Applicants who possess the following skills are preferred:

Prior experience supervising nursing and nursing support staff.

Documented experience preparing/performing duties such as staff schedules, assignments, orientation, and performance improvement and/or competency evaluations.

Documented experience managing daily nursing operations.

This is a full‑time position (40 hours per week) with State Benefits.

If selected, a new salary will be recalculated taking into consideration the quantity of relevant education and experience, funding availability, and internal equity. Veterans’ and National Guard Preference

Applicants seeking Veteran's Preference must attach a DD‑214 Member‑4 form (Certificate of Release or Discharge from Active Duty) to their applications.

Applicants seeking National Guard Preference must attach an NGB‑23A (RPAS), along with the state application, if they are a current member of the NC National Guard in good standing.

Applicants who are former members of either the NC Army National Guard or the NC Air National Guard, with honorable discharge and six years of creditable service, must attach a copy of the DD‑256 or NGB‑22, along with the state application.

Minimum Education and Experience Licensed to practice as a registered nurse in the State of North Carolina and three years of nursing experience, including one year of experience in a Nurse Supervisor capacity.
