Departmental Objective: The mission of the Ferguson Center for the Arts is to enhance and enrich the cultural development and awareness of the University and its constituents in the region by offering cost‑effective, diverse and superior cultural experiences, delivered with the highest level of service.
Purpose of the Position Reporting to the Director of Buildings Operations, this position will be responsible for providing direction for all maintenance (including electrical, carpentry, plumbing, HVAC) for the Ferguson Center of the Arts, Yoder Barn and Ferguson Parking Deck. This position will also determine the needs for housekeeping, maintenance, and repairs of all areas of the buildings on a daily basis. This position will be available in an on‑call capacity on an as needed basis.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Related to Position
Ability to manage and troubleshoot repairs and maintenance tasks in the following trades areas: electrical, carpentry, plumbing, HVAC systems, fire systems and other specialized theatrical systems
Ability to communicate effectively with others
Ability to instruct and inspect the work of others engaged in housekeeping/maintenance work; including daily schedules
Ability to lead housekeeping/maintenance staff in the Ferguson Center, Yoder Barn, and Ferguson Parking Deck
Ability to read and understand building drawings, specifications and operation manuals
Ability to plan, layout and make estimates of labor and material for projects
Skilled in the use of hand and power tools
Excellent oral and written communication skills
Must be able to work a flexible schedule including on‑call schedule on a rotating basis
Education, Experience, Licensure, Certification Required Education Required:
High school graduate or equivalent education/experience that equates to a high school diploma
Valid driver’s license
Experience Required:
Experience performing building maintenance
Experience supervising employees Additional Consideration(s) Education Preferred:
Bachelor’s degree and/or journeyman’s license
Experience Preferred:
Experience working in a college/university or convocation center setting
Experience with Microsoft Office
Salary Information Starting at $54,827, Commensurate with Education and Experience
