American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a nights PCU/stepdown telemetry position requiring EKG skills and at least two years of recent experience.Job Details•Work on the B3B Progressive Care Unit (PCU) in an acute care hospital setting,•Stepdown unit specializing in CHF and general telemetry patients,•30-bed unit with nurse-to-patient ratios of 1:3-4,•Common patient population includes CHF, fluid overload, shortness of breath, arrhythmias, and ETOH-related cases,•12-hour night shifts with self-scheduling from 7 p.m. to 7 a.m.,•Requires working every other weekend and coverage of two major and two minor holidays, depending on contract length,•Float requirements to any tele floor and may be floated to sister facilities,•Centralized telemetry monitoring; RNs must interpret their own EKG strips,•Use of Cerner charting system,•Unit has charge nurse without patient assignment, manager, and PCTs (1 per 15 patients),•Uses equipment such as nasal cannula and BiPAP/CPAP for obstructive sleep apnea,•Unit dress code is navy scrubs,Job Requirements•Active RN license (state or compact); pending licenses not accepted,•Current BLS and ACLS certifications from the AHA; pending certifications not accepted,•Minimum of 2 years recent PCU/stepdown or telemetry experience required,•Proficient EKG monitoring and interpretation skills required,•Experience with titrating cardiac, heparin, Lasix, and bumex drips is necessary,•Must pass a dysrhythmia (Relias) exam within 24-48 hours prior to acceptance with a maximum of 2 attempts,•Pass/fail Sim Lab on sterile technique (Foley and central line dressing change) required on day one of orientation,•Candidates must not have worked directly (full time, part time, or PRN) for CommonSpirit, CHI, or Dignity facilities in the past year,•Driver's license copy required for consideration,•States AZ, NV, NE, IA, and MN require permanent residence at least 50 miles from the facility, as shown on driver's license,•Professional references (1 supervisor from the past 12 months, 1 supervisor or peer from the past 3 years) required,Additional Information•Primary responsibilities include managing PCU patients with cardiac and telemetry needs, titrating drips, and interpreting EKGs,•Two-day floor orientation provided before assuming full responsibilities,•Both pass/fail testing on dysrhythmia recognition and sterile technique are required for continued assignment; failure results in ineligibility for 6 months at CommonSpirit facilities in the region,•Team structure includes a charge nurse, unit manager, and PCT support,•RNs should be prepared to float based on unit needs and census,•First to float among staff, and may float to sister facilities within the system,),•hash,:•645015934088941806,
