Job Description And Duties Position: Registered Dietitian – STAR Acute Crisis Homes

Assist individuals with activities of daily living, provide emotional support, and promote independence.

Work in community home settings (Vacaville, Springville, Costa Mesa) providing person‑centered care to adolescents (11‑17 years) and adults (18+ years) receiving regional center services.

Maintain a safe and supportive environment for individuals with developmental disabilities.

Support staff in crisis situations, ensuring compliance with state protocols.

Working Conditions

Drive up to 300 miles per day; travel to locations across Northern and Southern California.

Works extended hours or variable shifts as needed; overnight stays may be required.

Effective July 1, 2025 State employees subject to 3% salary reduction for 5 hours per month Personal Leave Program.

Special Requirements

Valid California Driver’s License (CDL) with number, class, expiration date, endorsements and/or restrictions.

Drug screening prior to hire.

Background investigation cleared prior to hire.

Medical clearance prior to hire.

Qualifications Certification: Registered Dietitian with the Commission on Dietetic Registration of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics. Applicants may be admitted to the examination but must become registered to be eligible.

Desirable qualifications include empathetic understanding of individuals with developmental disabilities (IDD) and co‑occurring mental health and behavioral conditions, and the ability to maintain sufficient strength, agility, endurance, and emotional stability to perform the duties.
