This is an opportunity to lead a field engineering team, assisting customers with Canonical's open source solutions across public clouds and data centers. The role involves working with technologies like Ubuntu, virtualization, private cloud, Kubernetes, and open source solutions such as MLops platforms and data platforms. As the company expands into new industries, the role includes designing and developing new open source solutions to meet diverse customer needs.

We value engineering managers who are also skilled engineers, capable of troubleshooting, technical presales, and contributing to project delivery. They should also be adept at shaping team direction, focus, and growth, with a focus on soft skills development.

The role involves managing a team of cloud solutions architects, working on private and public cloud solutions, deploying and testing technologies, and participating in presales activities. Key responsibilities include team leadership, technical guidance, collaboration, and active participation in technical presales to meet quarterly goals.

Location:

Home-based, managing a team in your time zone.

Daily Responsibilities:

Lead and develop a team of Field engineers across presales and professional services.

Resolve customer issues by promoting technologies and acting as a trusted advisor.

Work remotely within a major time zone.

Mentor, coach, and provide career development feedback.

Monitor team health and implement disciplined engineering processes.

Represent your team and products to stakeholders, partners, and customers.

Develop and promote best engineering and organizational practices.

Manage progress on goals and projects.

Collaborate with other leadership team members.

Candidate Requirements:

Knowledge of cloud computing technologies such as Kubernetes, Openstack, AWS, GCP, Azure, Ceph.

Practical Linux and networking skills.

Experience in technical presales.

Strong communication skills in English.

Experience in developing and leading engineering teams.

Organizational skills to ensure timely, high-quality results.

Willingness to travel up to 40%.

Preferred Additional Skills:

Second language (Spanish or French).

Python knowledge.

Experience with external partners and stakeholder feedback.
